District nurses provide support to patients and their families, mainly in the patients own home. A member of the district nursing team will identify any health care needs a patient may have and discuss a plan of care with them and, if appropriate, their family or carer.

Early pregnancy unit

During the normal working week all women with early pregnancy problems such as pain or bleeding have prompt access to dedicated Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit located at Ward 2 in Leigh Infirmary and open between 9am – 12:00. You can self-refer to the service by calling the number provided.
Maternity Triage

The purpose of the Maternity Triage Unit is to assess women who are more than 20 weeks into their pregnancy as well as women who are 42 days post delivery who have an urgent clinic complaint relating to pregnancy and delivery. A midwife will triage for many reasons, and you should always call triage at anytime if your baby’s movements have reduced, your waters have broken, if you see any blood loss in our underwear or if you feel unwell. If you are worried you can phone them for advice and support.
