What is a Primary Care Network (PCN)?

A primary care network is a group of practices who work together to focus on local patient care. Theyโ€™ve been around since 2019 and 99 per cent of practices across England now work as part of one. With increased demand and a shortage of clinical staff, practices find they can provide greater, more personalised care for patients when they can work together on certain services or issues.

What is a PPG?

A PPG is typically a group of volunteer patients, along with practice staff (including GPs and managers), who meet regularly to discuss practice issues and patient experience. They act as a link between the practice and the wider patient population.

It’s a way for patients to have a say in how their practice operates and to help shape the healthcare they receive. PPGs are a contractual requirement for all GP practices in England.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Improving patient experience
  • Representing the patient voice on behalf of ALL of our practices
  • Promoting health and well-being
  • Improving communication
  • Supporting practice activities
  • PPGs typically meet regularly, and some offer online options.

We belive that a PPG will be highly valuable way for our patients to actively participate in their healthcare and contribute to a better patient experience. It’s a way for patients to have a say in how our practice operates and to help shape the healthcare they receive.
